Vincent Price
Actor estadounidense
Vincent Price nació el 27 de mayo de 1911 en Saint Louis (Estados Unidos).
Licenciado en Historia del arte en la Universidad de Yale y posteriormente en la Universidad de Londres, ciudad donde se subió por primera vez a un escenario en 1935.
Después se inicia en Hollywood con Service de luxe (1938).
Interpretó distintos papeles en el cine de terror, (apareció por ejemplo en El hombre invisible vuelve, J. May, 1940; Los crímenes del museo de cera , A. de Toth 1953), La mosca (K. Neumann, 1958) Confessions of an Opium Eater (basada en la obra de Thomas de Quincey, A. Zugsmith 1962), Witchfinder General (Michael Reeves, 1968) y seis adaptaciones de Edgar Allan Poe realizadas por Roger Corman de La caída de la casa Usher (1960) a La tumba de Ligeia (1964).
Posteriormente llegó hasta la autoparodia de los Dr Phibes ( El abominable Dr. Phibes [The abominable Dr. Phibes], R. Fuest, 1971, y El regreso del Dr Phibes [Dr Phibes Rises Again], id., 1972) o de Matar o no matar, este es el problema (Theatre of Blood, D. Hickox 1973).
En 1938 se casó con la actriz Edith Barrett, con quien compartió créditos en "La canción de Bernadette" (1942) de Henry King y "Las llaves del reino" (1943) de John M. Stahl. En 1948, se divorciaron. En 1949 se casó con Mary Grant, una diseñadora de vestuario, terminarían separándose en 1973.
Experto en gastronomía, publicó varios libros de cocina.
Vincent Price falleció en Los Ángeles, California el 25 de octubre de 1993.
