Nació el 4 de enero de 1914 en Saint Joseph (Estados Unidos).

Antes de aparecer en la pantalla, cantó en la radio.

Su primer trabajo reconocido es Días sin huella (Billy Wilder, 1945), donde encarna a la novia de Ray Milland. Gracias a Belinda (Jean Negulesco, 1948), en la que interpreta a una sordomuda, consigue ganar un Oscar.

Entre sus interpretaciones destacan los trabajos en The Glass Menagerie (I. Rapper, 1950), The Blue Veil (C. Bernhardt, 1951) y sobre todo en Trigo y esmeralda (Robert Wise, 1953).

Su actuación en Obsesión (1954) da la medida exacta de su capacidad, y s papel más bonito fue en Sólo el cielo lo sabe (1956).

Jane Wyman fue conocida por muchas generaciones en todo el mundo por interpretar el personaje de la malvada Angela Channing en la popular serie de televisión 'Falcon Crest' que se desarrollaba en los viñedos californianos y que estuvo en antena nueve años, hasta 1990.

Estuvo casada con Ronald Reagan.


Jane Wyman falleció el 11 de septiembre de 2007 a los 93 años en su casa de Palm Springs (California).
