Dorothy McGuire

Actriz estadounidense



Nació el 14 de junio de 1916 en Omaha, Nebraska (Estados Unidos).

Hija única de Thomas Johnson McGuire e Isabelle Flaherty McGuire.

Se inició en el mundo del teatro y aparece en el cine interpretando a adolescentes: Claudia, esposa moderna (Claudia, R. Goulding, 1943) y su continuación Claudia and David (W. Lang, 1946), Lazos humanos (Elia Kazan, 1945) y Su milagro de amor (J. Cromwell id.).

Destaca su interpretación en La escalera de caracol (R. Siodmak 1945). Después realiza papeles de mujer madura: Invitation (G. Reinhardt, 1952) o Creemos en el amor (Jean Negulesco, 1954).

Fue nominada para el Oscar a la Mejor Actriz por Gentleman's Agreement (1947) y ganó el National Board of Review a la mejor actriz por Friendly Persuasion (1956).

Dorothy McGuire falleció el 13 de septiembre de 2001 en Santa Monica, California.
