Nació el 7 de octubre de 1926 en Los Angeles, California.

Diana Lynn fue pianista profesional a los 10 años, y con 16 trabaja en El mayor y la menor (Billy Wilder, 1942), donde interpreta un inolvidable personaje de adolescente.

Volvió a repetirlo en Miracle of Morgan's Creek (El milagro de Morgan Creek, Preston Sturges 1944) y Our Hearts Were Young and Gay (L. Allen, id.).

En El caso O'Hara (The People Against O'Hara, Sturges, 1951 ) y en Meet Me at the Fair (D. Sirk, 1953), estuvo correcta aunque no destacó.

Tras Un fresco en apuros (You're Never Too Young, N. Taurog, 1955), una versión de su primera película, abandona el cine y se dedica a la televisión.

Lynn contrajo matrimonio en 1948 con John C. Lindsay, del que se divorció en 1954, y en 1956 se casó con Mortimer W. Hall, matrimonio que duró hasta su fallecimiento.

Diana Lynn murió en Nueva York el 18 de diciembre de 1971.
