Eleanor Parker

Actriz estadounidense



Nació el 26 de junio de 1922 en Cedarville, (Ohio, Estados Unidos).

Es descubierta en los grupos de teatro escolares.

En 1941 se instala en Hollywood contratada por la Warner Bros.

Tiene un papel de cierta relevancia en Mission to Moscow (Michael Curtiz, 1943), y en Pride of the Marines (D. Daves, 1945).

Actriz que plasma en sus papeles el encanto o la amenaza de las bellas agresivas como en Cuando ruge la marabunta (B. Haskin, 1954) estos personajes son los que interpreta mejor. Hace ostentación de sus capacidades dramáticas en Sin remisión (J. Cromwell, 1950) y en Con él llegó el escándalo (Vincente Minnelli, 1960); El hombre del brazo de oro (Otto Preminger, 1955.

También trabajó en la comedia Un rey para cuatro reinas (R. Walsh, 1956), en Millonario de ilusiones (Frank Capra, 1959).

Una de sus últimas interpretaciones para el cine fue en La gata en la terraza (Eye of the Cat, David Lowell Rich, 1969.


Contrajo matrimonio en cuatro ocasiones, la primera con Fred Losee en 1943 divorciándose un año después. La segunda sería con Bert Friedlob de 1946 hasta 1953; su tercera boda fue con Paul Clemens (1954-1965) y la última con Raymond Hirsch con el cual se casó en 1966.

Parker falleció el 9 de diciembre de 2013 debido a complicaciones por una neumonía. Se despidió en paz, rodeada por sus hijos en una institución médica cerca de su casa en Palm Springs.
